While the National crime rate was 369 violent crimes and 2,200 property crimes per 100,000 residents, NM had 857 violent crimes and 3,420 property crimes per 100,000 residents. *
Front and center of the State’s crime rate are gangs. There are approximately 680 gangs in NM totaling approximately 13,800 members, comprising of prison gangs, street gangs and motorcycle gangs.**
